Isaiah 61-63 Psalm 120

Almost every day I find something in the Scripture that stands out. There’s some point, some image, some thought that sticks with me. Honestly, today is one of the days that didn’t happen.

I know I made one of these posts earlier, somewhere in Leviticus or Numbers, probably, about how sometimes it’s just the practice that important. It’s the showing up that matters.

I showed up. These chapters felt like more of the same from Isaiah, all things he’s said before. Psalm 120 felt like just another Psalm.

Am I just too tired? Did I gloss over it and miss what the Spirit had to say to me?

It’s possible. It’s also possible that these passages don’t have anything for me right now. Maybe they will the next time I read through them.

It’s possible that showing up is all that mattered today. It’s possible that chapter 58 needs some more time to settle into my thoughts and understanding before I move on to contemplating something else.

Don’t be hard on yourself if you have a day, or a few days, where you’re just going through the motions. We say that’s a bad thing, but there’s a difference between lip service that’s just a show, a brush off, with no intention of ever diving deeper and observing a practice because we sincerely believe in its purpose. One will grow into something more. One will keep us afloat when we’re feeling lost at sea.

So breathe. You might not be doing anything wrong.
