Jeremiah 37-39

It’s got to be difficult to be the puppet king the conquerors put on the throne. I mean, that seems like it would be fairly stressful, fairly precarious. Lean too far toward the people, and the conquering power will remove you. Lean too far toward the conquerors, and the people will reject.

I don’t know how sympathetic I really am. If he were a particularly honorable fellow, I doubt he would have been chosen in the first place. This one just seems a bit… inept? as well?

I get the power hungry, or just plain greedy, type that is willing to submit to whoever will back their play for the throne, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

This guy just seems… scared. Unsure. Kind of pushed around by whoever is closest to him at the time.

I don’t know.

Don’t really have an application from this particular reflection. It’s just what happened to settle into my mind as I read.
