Pieces of Me

I thought it would be helpful if I shared my story. For those of you coming to the blog a bit later on, yes, I shared four posts in this category before going back to write an introduction. That is a prime example of part of my story: I have ADHD, and I’m making this up as I go along.

I started with a plan; I really did. I thought I was organized. I was, actually. Aside from a few website mechanics, this is the first time I’ve felt like “Oof, missed something there…”

I also have major depression, which is largely in remission, and general anxiety which I am currently able to manage without medication. (However, coming out of two years of global pandemic and political turmoil, I’m starting to consider my options.)

I also have chronic migraines and have, since my last child, developed a second chronic pain condition for which the consensus seems to be auto-immune disorder, but diagnosis has been illusive. With chronic pain comes chronic fatigue, both of which impede house work which in turn aggravates all three mental health conditions.

So, when I missed two weeks of updates last month due to those health conditions, it would have been very easy for me to walk away from the whole project. After all, it isn’t tidy anymore. My two year plan is now going to go for two years and two weeks. The dates are always going to be messy. All because I failed to schedule posts I’d already written ahead of time.

Well, I’ve done that now. And I’m going to continue doing that. And this is just going to be another opportunity for transparency, honesty. We’re all a mess in one way or another, even the healthy neuro-typical individuals out there. (They tell me that’s the majority. Is it? Really?)

This also serves as a very good introduction to ME. I introduced the website, the other categories of the blog, and now, with a glimpse at my mess, you’re getting to knew me.
